The Indian Railway Minister has said that the railway ministry is planning to set up separate joint venture companies with at least 20 states for completion of projects in a time-bound manner, PTI reported.
"Joint Venture (JV) companies will be formed with around 20 states and will be between the Railways and the state concerned having separate nodal officers from the two sides," PTI quoted Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu as saying this.
"This will help states have more say in the rail development," he added.
As per PTI report, the criteria for choosing the company will be the completion of project in a time-bound manner.
For the transparent functioning of the Railways, the Government is planning to introduce e-tendering process. The Railways has also started e-catering services to allow passengers to have their choice of food. The Railways is also going to emphasis on safety and punctuality of trains in the coming months.
