This is with reference to your email dated June 6, 2018 seeking clarification to the news published in the media/publication captioned 'CBI questions Naveen Jindal in a case related to coal block allocation'.
In this regard we wish to submit that during the investigation of CBI RC221/2014/E 0018 dated 18.10.2014 pertaining to allocation of Gare IV/I coal block to JSPL, CBI has been collecting certain information from JSPL through correspondence as well as in person from certain officials of the company.
Being in his capacity as Chairman, JSPL, CBI called Mr. Naveen Jindal on June 4, 2018, as a witness for providing certain details. Mr. Jindal has provided all the desired information sought by the CBI, which was largely in the nature of factual details on the record of the company.
Many in Media have exaggerated and also twisted to make it sensational as they usually do, as far as we are concerned, we were just doing our duty as a law abiding citizen which we always do.
JSPL is a law abiding organisation and has always extended full cooperation and provided all desired information as and when sought by the authorities. It may kindly be noted that nothing adverse has so far emerged since the de-allocation of mines and we are confident that there should be no material impact on the company as a result of the outcome of the RC.
Kindly take the above information on your record.
